I'm really enjoying the game, the only downside for me has been that the AvA (agency vs agency play) requires enough people (10) to form a team and take over spots on the map, and since I'm holding the CF agency name i can't join a bigger agency temporarily to test. But I have been able to get in and test the AvA via a few pugs and so far its pretty fun.
Here's an example map (so far there's 3 and this is the biggest one) Each hexagon you see on the map is an individual instance\base that has 3 control points take all 3 and you get the base. Taking them over provides your agency with cash and boosts. Cash is used to bid on taking over other hexagons and upgrading your defenses. As you can see from the colors on the map there's presently 3 big alliances that are dominating:

And here's a screenshot of the current free play instances. on the left is pvp, and pve on the right, each one has a few different maps that are played at random:

PvP is 10v10 and right now the most popular is the team based death match one called control since it's accessible from an early level. PvE missions start out pretty easy but starting at high security they're actually pretty challenging and require a good team to beat.
I think the major selling point of this game for me is that for ~50 bucks you get a pretty solid game that doesn't require a subscription to level. After that you can decide to spend the $15 on getting access to the agency vs agency game. So even if AvA does bomb you're only out ~50 bucks and still get a solid tribes\tf2 style game. Over the past week I've been pouring over the forums getting a feel for the developers and I have to say I'm impressed, they remind me a lot of the planetside developers (and often they quote specific game mechanic examples from past games, pretty on top of the ball.
